YE WHO ART HANDSOME
WHAT WOULD YE KNOW
THE PAIN OF THE UNWANTED
THE GROAN OF THE UGLY
THERE WE STAND
AWAITING A SMILE
THERE WE FALL
IN THE SNARE OF YOUR GUILE
OUR SLIGHTEST ERROR
US IT BRINGS TERROR
AGREED, DESTINY IS GREATER
FOR THE FAIRER
REALISE ,THE REJECTION
OF OUR COURTESY
YOUR REPROACH
IT HURTS TERRIBLY
THE FAILURES THEN
FURTHER SEEMS TO LULL
THE FAILURES, THE ONE
THAT US ALWAYS BEGUILE
THEN THE MOANING
IN THE DARKNESS
THEN THE CRYING
THE TEARS OF THE HELPLESS
THERE WE GO
THERE SINKING
THE RAYS OF LIGHT NOT ANY
LONGER US TOUCHING
THEN YE HANDS
CAN NO LONGER US REACH
THEN YE SMILE
WILL NEVER AGAIN BEGUILE
IF YE MAY
IF YE CAN
A PRAYER TO NEVER CALL
US NAMES AGAIN
REALISE, THEY ARE SWORDS
THAT PIERCE OUR HEART
THE WORDS THAT TEAR
OUR SOUL APART
WHAT WOULD YE KNOW
THE PAIN OF THE UNWANTED
THE GROAN OF THE UGLY
THERE WE STAND
AWAITING A SMILE
THERE WE FALL
IN THE SNARE OF YOUR GUILE
OUR SLIGHTEST ERROR
US IT BRINGS TERROR
AGREED, DESTINY IS GREATER
FOR THE FAIRER

ReplyDeleteIt's an excellent poem. You brought out the pain of rejection felt by every ugly gnarled lowly human being very well. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletethanks for understanding and happy new year too
DeleteThose who perceive the outer, ignoring the inner radiance, are the ones who are missing out. Many with what is considered beauty are very lacking in the inward qualities which are the ones that truly matter. You have captured the pain well in this poem.
ReplyDeletethank you sherry

ReplyDeleteSuch a thoughtful poem, Jossina. Makes me realize how hurtful people can be sometimes!
ReplyDeleteVery powerful poem, Jossina! The pain is very palpable. I wigs those who make others suffer would realize how ugly their behavior makes them.
