Let me go on liveth
though not knoweth
thy frame of mind
by me untouched, unscathed
And yet covered
in my love
thy frame of mind
yet not knoweth , not cognized
For I shall say
Great is the benefit
of Doubt , that in peace
let me lay
Rather than let me die
in despair
the heart troubleth
and facts knoweth
though not knoweth
thy frame of mind
by me untouched, unscathed
And yet covered
in my love
thy frame of mind
yet not knoweth , not cognized
For I shall say
Great is the benefit
of Doubt , that in peace
let me lay
Rather than let me die
in despair
the heart troubleth
and facts knoweth
Doubt definitely has its benefits in some situations. But dying in despair is a sad thing.
ReplyDeletei am sorry Mary i missed the' than ' after rather
DeleteThe benefit of doubt is necessary. If we go on and analyze each and every aspect of each other, we can never build relationships. Some things shall always remain hidden in the haze of doubt.
ReplyDeleteWell-penned and thoughtful writing. :-)

Death is melancholy. But it doesn't have to be. Great poem
ReplyDeletei am not afraid of doubt, as many are
ReplyDeletei think we have to ask the questions and in that can strengthen our
faith...not leave it shallow...
yes, thats the best approach Brian, but for someone whose only hope is a wish that he/she is 90% sure that the wish wont be true this works.
DeleteI guess sometimes ignorance is better than despair, but sometimes on the other hand you may never quite be sure of the person's 'frame of mind'. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteI like the preference for peace, and I share that with you......well done.
ReplyDeletethanks Sherry for the empathy
